Connect Pushpay

Sync your Pushpay community members with PrayerConnect using secure OAuth authentication.

Prerequisites

Before connecting, ensure you have:

  • Admin access to your Pushpay account
  • Pushpay API access enabled for your organization
  • PrayerConnect admin role for your church
Important: Not all Pushpay plans include API access. Contact Pushpay support to verify your plan includes this feature.

Step 1: Navigate to Integrations

  1. Log in to your PrayerConnect dashboard
  2. Go to Settings → Integrations
  3. Find the Pushpay card

Step 2: Start the Connection

  1. Click Connect to Pushpay
  2. You'll be redirected to Pushpay's authorization page
  3. Sign in with your Pushpay credentials if prompted

Step 3: Authorize Access

Pushpay will ask you to authorize PrayerConnect. We request access to:

  • Community Members: To sync member information
  • Community Groups: To sync your groups
Click Allow to grant access.

Step 4: Configure and Sync

After authorization, you'll return to PrayerConnect:

  1. Click Sync Now to import your community
  2. Review what will be synced
  3. Confirm to complete the import

Enterprise Features

Pushpay integration works best for:

  • Churches with 500+ members
  • Multi-campus organizations
  • Churches using Pushpay's community features

Multi-Campus Support

If you have multiple campuses in Pushpay:

  • Select which campuses to sync
  • Map campuses to PrayerConnect locations
  • Sync members to their respective locations

Troubleshooting

"API Access Not Available" Error

This usually means your Pushpay plan doesn't include API access:

  1. Contact Pushpay support
  2. Request API access for your account
  3. Once enabled, try connecting again
Alternative: If API access isn't available, you can use our CSV import feature instead.

"Authorization Failed" Error

  • Ensure you're an organization admin in Pushpay
  • Verify API access is enabled for your organization
  • Try logging out of Pushpay and reconnecting

"No Community Data Found" Error

  • Verify you're using Pushpay's community features
  • Check that community members exist in your account
  • Contact Pushpay to enable community features

Token Expired

OAuth tokens expire periodically. If this happens:

  1. Go to Settings → Integrations
  2. Click Reconnect on the Pushpay card
  3. Re-authorize the connection

Alternative: CSV Import

If Pushpay API access isn't available for your plan, you can:

  1. Export your community as a CSV from Pushpay
  2. Go to Settings → Users in PrayerConnect
  3. Click Import Contacts
  4. Upload your CSV file

Security

Pushpay uses OAuth 2.0, which means:

  • We never see your Pushpay password
  • You can revoke access anytime from Pushpay
  • Tokens are encrypted in our database
  • We only access community data (never giving data)
